Thomas Hayot (Ayotte)

Thomas was living at St. Jean De Mortagne in Perche, France when he departed for Canada, but he wasn't born there. His marriage record indicates that he came from Solign--La-Trippe, a locality situated about three leagues(?) north of Mortagne.

He was born in 1609 and on 15 July 1629 he married Jeanne Boucher at St. Jean De Mortagne. Jeanne was born in 1607 and she was the sister of Marin Boucher. We know that a daughter of Marin, Marie Boucher, got married at St. Jean on 1/10/1656 to Charles Godin and that Jeanne Boucher acted as godmother for Marin's son, Jean Boucher, at St. Langis on 15/3/1613.

Thomas left his parish in 1638 with his wife, Jeanne, and three children: Genevieve(8), Rodolphe (4), and Jean (2). These children are included in the following list of their progeny: 1. Genevieve b. ca. 1630; m. ca. 1650 to Claude Bouchard d'Orval, a surgeon; d. (buried) at Quebec on 1/3/1651. There were no children. 2.
